Programme Overview
Thematic outline
The final symposium of the Virtual Institute 'Integrated Climate and Landscape Evolution Analyses' (ICLEA) will summarize the results achieved on Holocene landscape evolution from the northern German and Polish lowlands in a larger context of climate changes, human impact and their environmental impacts.
We view on past changes as natural experiments and as a guidebook for better anticipation of future changes and their impacts. Therefore, a particular focus of our discussion will be on the challenges of linking geoarchive proxy data with modern observation and instrumental data in order to get a better understanding of proxy data interpretation and to decipher the processes of ongoing changes.
A second focus of the symposium will be to foster discussions "How the complex coupling of natural climatic and the increasing anthropogenic impacts on landscape evolution can be disentangled in a lowland region?"
The symposium will start on Wednesday, 7 June 2017 at 8:45 am with Welcome notes and an ICLEA overview lecture.
Invited keynotes and lectures will be presented on 7 June and 9 June in four sessions.
Session 1: Abrupt and High Frequency Climate Variability since the Late Glacial
Session 2: Recent change and instrumental observations
Session 3: Integrating time-scales and regional synchronization
Session 4: Man - climate - environment interactions
Call for Posters / Abstracts
Call is closed!
Posters for the four sessions will be on display at the Open Poster Session during the whole symposium. Link to abstract submission.
Thursday, 8 June: day excursion by bus to Lusatia (Climate, Landscape, Human and Environment) including evening get together in Lusatia (Spreewald region).
Social event
An icebreaker party on Wednesday evening (boat tour on the river Havel) will complete the first day.
