ICLEA Excursion on Thursday, 8 June 2017
Excursion to Lusatia completely booked out!
The one day excursion by bus takes us to Lower Lusatia in the South East of Brandenburg on 8 June 2017.
Our guides are, among others, Thomas Raab, Anna Schneider and Florian Hirsch from the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg.

Please note that the bus excursion places are limited and will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis. Please submit your completed application as soon as possible.
The excursion includes transportation, entrance fees, tour guide, a lunch box, and the evening get together. Also, we recommend that you bring a good pair of walking shoes and a summer rain jacket with you.
Preliminary excursion programme
Expected departure time in Potsdam 8:00 am.
Stop: Viewpoint Grießen (Opencast Mine Jänschwalde)
Themes: Late Holocene eolian morphodynamics, soil formation and agricultural land use history in the opencast mine Jänschwalde.
Reconstruction of a palaeosurface and archaeological site location in an anthropogenic drift sand area.
Stop: Hike to field site Tauerscher Forst
Themes: Spatial distribution of Relict Charcoal Hearth RCH (Charcoal Kiln Remains) in the Tauerscher Forst.
Extensive historical charcoal production in Brandenburg (Germany) - identification of potential areas by GIS analysis.
Soil monitoring installation.
Stop: Hike to "Waldschule" Kleinsee.
Stop at the ironwork Peitz.
Theme: History of the ironwork and impacts on the cultural landscape.
Passing Biosphere Reservate Spreewald and stop at slavic fort Raddusch.
Theme: Human history / Self-guided tour through the museum.
Final stop: At the end of our excursion, we will have a "come together" in one of the restaurants of the Spreewald region.
